In the bustling music scene of Manhattan, Brooke Muller stands out not just as the manager of the band Wilmah but as a vibrant force who embodies the passion and energy of the music industry. A Connecticut native with dreams that led her to Elon University in North Carolina, Brooke has always had an unwavering love for music and social media. Her journey, filled with serendipitous moments and hard work, is an inspiring story of how following your passion can lead to unexpected opportunities.

Brooke’s journey into the music world took a pivotal turn in the fall of 2022. Encouraged by her roommates, she attended a SoFar Sounds show, an experience that brings music lovers together for intimate performances in undisclosed locations. Little did she know that the third act of the night would be Matt from Wilmah. Captivated by their sound and vibe, Brooke continued attending their shows, singing along and immersing herself in their music. Despite being a familiar face in the crowd, the band didn’t initially know her. It was only after she reached out on Instagram that they realized this dedicated fan had been attending multiple shows and knew their songs by heart. Brooke’s enthusiasm didn’t go unnoticed; it sparked an idea that would change her life. Brooke has always wanted to work in music, so she took a bold step by creating a 15-slide pitch deck to showcase her vision for collaborating with Wilmah. Impressed by her dedication and genuine love for their music, the band immediately welcomed her onto their team.

What began as a role in social media management evolved into a full-fledged position on their management and promotion team. “It never feels like work,” Brooke shares. “It’s all fun.” This enthusiasm is infectious, motivating the band and fueling their creative process. As part of her responsibilities, she often finds herself attending five shows a week, all while balancing her day job in corporate social media. Brooke's connection to music goes beyond management. She made a cameo in Backfires' “Joyride” music video, flipping her hair and embodying the spirit of youthful joy. It was during this shoot that she met many of her good friends, further intertwining her life with the music community. Her journey into the social media world began with fan accounts in her youth, including a popular One Direction fan account. Her academic background in strategic communications equipped her with the skills needed to navigate the industry effectively. While she started in healthcare social media, even working on the TikTok account for Chips Ahoy!, her heart always yearned for the music scene. Living in Manhattan, Brooke thrives in a city known for its vibrant music culture. “It’s a small world,” she says, noting how interconnected the music community is. If you don’t know someone, chances are a friend does. She doesn’t believe in gatekeeping; instead, she advocates for building connections and friendships that lead to new opportunities.

As Wilmah prepares for their upcoming tour supporting Cab Ellis, Brooke is excited to join them on the road. She emphasizes the importance of finding bands that light a spark in you: “There are so many talented bands out there, but when you find the one that fuels your passion, it motivates you.” In today’s digital age, social media plays a crucial role in connecting artists with their fans. Brooke views platforms like TikTok as essential tools for fostering genuine connections. “TikTok allows fans to see the band’s personality, while Instagram tends to showcase the music,” she explains. However, she acknowledges the pressure to consistently create content, which can sometimes feel overwhelming. For Brooke, social media is more about support than self-promotion. She believes in promoting Wilmah for their music and live shows rather than merely going viral. This perspective alleviates the burden on the band, allowing them to focus on what they do best—creating music and performing.

Brooke’s journey serves as an inspiration to fans who may hesitate to approach their favorite bands. Her advice is simple yet powerful: make your own opportunities and connect with others. “Don’t be afraid to talk to people,” she encourages. Over time, these connections can lead to friendships and incredible opportunities. As she navigates the challenges of the industry, Brooke reminds herself, “I get to do this.” This mindset keeps her motivated even during stressful times, reinforcing her passion for music and the joy it brings her life. In a world where the music industry can be daunting, Brooke Muller shines as a beacon of positivity, proving that with passion, determination, and the right connections, dreams can become reality. Whether she’s behind the merch table or supporting the band on stage, Brooke’s love for music is a powerful reminder that the heart of the industry beats in those who truly believe in it.
